Believers that are captive to sin? Why yes, yes it is so…

simonthesorcererFrom Acts 8 – Simon, who had practiced sorcery, believed and was baptized after hearing Philip give the good news of the kingdom of God.

Although Simon believed and was baptized he still didn’t ‘get it.’

Later in the chapter Peter and John came to town and after Simon offered to pay for the ability to give the Holy Spirit through the laying on of hands, was rebuked for being full of bitterness and captive to sin.

There is so much more to believing and being baptized.  It’s just not good enough.  Repentance in accordance with your fruits is something that not only God sees but others as well.

Some of you have fallen away from practical teachings of scripture.  Hear me as you read this:  TURN BACK NOW.  Don’t delay.   You’ve believed, you’ve been baptized, but you are still a captive to your sin.  Bound by your bitterness of how others in the church have treated you.

Just like the prodigal’s son.  Rise up from your slop, head back home and your Heavenly Father will come running from His front porch to embrace you for your faith in action.  For which we will all celebrate.

Check yourself before you wreck yourself.  That’s just the cold hard facts my friend.  Truth in it’s own form.  Rock solid!
